Panasonic, Japanese multinational electronics corporation, is to cut 8,000 jobs out of 320,000 worldwide by the end of March 2013 due to the global economic downturn. The company had announced large losses for 2012 and 2011.
This large scale restructuring follows previous rounds of job cuts: The group has already cut 38,000 jobs worldwide over the last 12 months and had announced 15,000 job cuts in 2009 (see here).
