Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Peres Soctip, a graphic company established in Samora Correia, has filed for bankruptcy, a decision that affects 180 workers.
The company’s activities focus on the printing of books, magazines and catalogues, and according to the employees there was always enough work. Since the beginning of 2012 the financial position of the company has gradually deteriorated and some workers are due a part of their wages.
According with the Mayor of Benavente the company closure is "bad news” and guarantees that the company never appealed to the Municipality for help.
