Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on October 18, 2012 air cargo handling provider FDGHG, a subsidiary of Flughafen Düsseldorf, will cut 372 jobs. This is due to increasing cost pressures and strong competition.
In total, FDGHG employs 800 people, of which about half will be made redundant. Forced redundancies are not ruled out, but 120 people are said to be transferred to Flughafen Security, another subsidiary of Flughafen Düsseldorf. It is reported that they are to accept lower salaries with the transfer.
