Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Canadian multinational aerospace and transportation company Bombardier will close its site in Aachen and make 200 temporary agency workers redundant. Additionally, 400 permanent workers will be offered opportunities at other sites.
In Aachen, Bombardier manufactures trains for the German and Dutch rail service and suffers from low demand. There is no concrete timeline given and the exact closure date depends on order completion. It is expected to be implemented in the second half of 2012. The total workforce in Germany sums up to 9,000 in 10 sites.
The company announced talks with worker representatives.
