Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on October 4, 2012, German sanitary paper manufacturer Wepa will cut 150 out of 2,900 jobs in Germany. This is reported to be due to cost pressure.
Most of the announced cuts affect the sites of Arnsberg-Müschede and Marsberg-Giershagen. In the wake of the acquisition of Kato-Group’s Italian sites in 2009, Wepa created administrative jobs there, which are now to be reduced.
Wepa aims to avoid forced redundancies.
