Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Tetra Pak, provider of processing and packaging solutions for food and beverages, has announced that 250 employees will be made redundant at its plant in Lund. The downsizing is undertaken to reduce costs. Tetra Pak has approximately 4,000 employees in Lund and 22,000 globally. Tetra Pak is part of Tetra Laval Group which comprises Tetra Pak, DeLaval and Sidel.
As of October 2012 it is not yet known when the measure will be implemented by, but the job reduction will probably be carried out by natural attrition and similar solutions and possibly a recruitment stop.
