Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French paper and pulp manufacturer Sequana announced the closure of three of its subsidiary Arjowiggins’ sites around the world affecting 430 workers. The sites in Denmark and Argentine will be closed before the end of 2012, while a site in the UK will be affected in the first quarter 2014.
The group highlights the fact that the demand for paper has decreased by about 6% each year since 2008. The group's subsidiary Arjowiggins had already closed a site in the UK in August 2012.
