On 3 October 2012, the management of Plastic Omnium, announced to its Central Works Council, the decision to make redundant 110 out of 1,100 employees working on its site of Saint-Désirat (Ardèche).
According to statements from the management, 25 on the 110 redundant employees will be offered relocation to the Research and Development department in the unit in Ain.
According to CGT union, following a fire in March which destroyed a part of the plant, the management proposed to rebuild it in Germany, near its customer Mercedes, or to rebuild it in the same location if the union agreed to job cuts and a noticeable wage reduction.
