Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Alapis, a Greek pharmaceutical company, dismissed 438 employees in Greece - both in the mother company and its subsidiaries. The company currently employs 1,400 people. The restructuring is attributed to a reduction in turnover, but a long-debated closure of the company has been averted.
The Alapis Group was created by the merger of Veterin SA, Lamda Detergent SA, EBIK SA and Elpharma SA. The Group is involved in the manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceuticals and para-pharmaceutical products, as well as powder detergents.
