Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 13 August 2012, the media group Agora, publisher of Gazeta Wyborcza and owner of an internet portal, announced plans to cut 250 jobs. The redundancies will be implemented by the end of January 2013.
The restructuring programme is implemented in response to changes on the media market, which occurred over the last years. The company is to reduce its operational costs.
Agora declared intention to implement supportive measures for the redundant workers. The company negotiates the conditions of the programme with the local trade unions.
