Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In early September 2012, Flextronics International notified the local labour office about the planned dismissal of 600 employees at its site in Zalaegerszeg.
The company dismissed 1000 employees in Zalaegerszegin December 2011 and next 600 people in the spring 2012.
The company claims the internal restructuring measures are based on the information from the continuous market research. The representatives assured the company will follow all legal requirements, and try to offer positions to the dismissed employees at its other sites.
The Singapore-based Flextronics currently employs around 9000 employees at its sites in Budapest, Sárvár, Pécs, Tab and Zalaegerszeg.
