Description
Tata Steels announced that it will cut 125 jobs at two different plants in the Netherlands. Operations at the production site at Moerdijk will be transferred to Maastricht, resulting in the loss of 64 jobs. In Maastricht itself, one production line will be shut down, resulting in the loss of another 61 jobs.
Background is the drop in demand for steel across Europe. Forced dismissals cannot be avoided, according to a spokesperson of the Tata group. A timeline for the restructuring has yet to be announced.
