Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sharp Corp, a Japanese multinational specialised in the design and manufacturing of electronic products, announced plans to cut 5,000 jobs worldwide by the end of March 2013.
The measure is the company's reaction to a substantial net loss registered over the past year (July 2011 - June 2012).
Sharp detailed that the job cuts will be implemented globally, but did not specify plants or give more detailed information on which countries are affected.
