Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Automotive supplier Pierburg Deutschland, a manufacturer of magnetic valves, announced the intention to merge and restructure its two production plants in Neuss and Nettetal (both North Rhine-Westphalia) leading to 100 job losses.
It is reported that the restructuring will strengthen research and development, as well as save costs and improve Pierburg's global market position.
The plans comprise the closure of the Nettetal plant and the relocation of the Neuss plant to a new location. There will also be set up a centre of excellence, which will be located at a new premise in Neuss, opening in 2014.
