The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As part of its global restructuring plan, German wholesale and retail company Metro has announced the cutting of 900 posts worldwide by 2015 (see here), 200 of which in Germany. Additionally, Metro has announced plans to cut 280 out of 1,000 posts at Metro Cash & Carry in Düsseldorf.
While the 200 administrative posts shed in the global restructuring plan are said to be implemented by natural fluctuation, the 280 cash&carry jobs may involve direct dismissals. Negotiations with the works council have started.
