Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German Schüco International, one of the leading developers in the field of photovoltaic appliances to buildings, has announced to close all production, research and development operations in Germany in 2012; 275 jobs will be affected.
Already at the end of August one site in Großröhrsdorf, Saxony, will be closed; the sites in Osterweddingen, Saxony-Anhalt and Bielefeld, North-Rhine Westfalia will be closed until the end of the year. The enterprise stated that the global crisis in the photovoltaic sector made these measures unavoidable.
