Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Remploy, provider of employment services and engaged in a wide range of manufacturing activities, has announced plans to close 27 factories in Wales. Five of these factories employ disabled workers. So far 189 job losses have been confirmed, but this number is expected to rise.
This announcement follows the withdrawal of government funding. According to the government, money from the disability funding should be invested into other schemes in order to help disabled people find jobs.
According to trade union sources, the factories will close between August and mid-December.
