Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 17 July Metro, a German wholesale and retail company, announced its restructuring progamme that will involve the cutting of 900 posts worldwide by 2015.
Job cuts will affect the administrative department - at the Düsseldorf headquarter 200 out of 3,000 administrative jobs are at risk, jobs at Metro Properties, at Metro Logistics and at Metro Services (IT). Currently, these divisions employ 11,000 staff. In Düsseldorf, jobs will be shed by natural fluctuation.
There is no more precise information on the global job cuts available yet.
