Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced in June 2012, Vion Food Germany, a subsidiary of Dutch foods company Vion, will cut 290 jobs in Germany. This is part of Vion's "Balancing the future" restructuring programme.
The programme aims to reduce costs and to optimize the product portfolio and shall be implemented by the end of 2012. Further job cuts have been announced in the Netherlands (further information is provided here). Vion employs 26,500 people worldwide.
