Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 27 June 2012, Portuguese food retail company Jerónimo Martins, owner of the store chain Biedronka in Poland, announced plans to open a new distribution centre in Ruda Śląska, where 250 jobs will be created. The centre is expected to be operational from 5 July 2012.
Jerónimo Martins has been operating in Poland since 1995. The company has over 1,900 stores in 800 Polish cities and 11 distribution centres across Poland. Jerónimo Martins employs over 37,000 people in Poland.
