Description
Czech footwear retailer Bata will close its 26 stores in Portugal. This decision will lead to the collective dismissal of all workers - 146 people in total. A formal announcement was already sent by post to all Bata employees in Portugal.
According to the company representatives, the economic situation of the country and substantial decrease in the purchasing power of the consumers are the main reasons for the closure.
The first stores will be closed in July. The process will be carried out gradually and completed by the end of September 2012.
