Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Thales Alenia Space ETCA, a company specializing in power supply facilities for communication satellites, announced to the works council its plans to cut 88 jobs. Among the affected employees there would be 72 blue-collar workers and 16 white-collar workers from the plant in Mont-sur-Marchienne, Belgium.
According to the management, the decision is due to short and long term decreases in the plant activities. The measures are also meant to help to adapt the production capacity to market demand. The management declared they are trying to maintain their competitiveness and the long-term vision.
The restructuring is to be completed by the end of 2012.
