Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on May 30, 2012, a German print solutions provider Drescher Print Solutions will close its site in Rutesheim, Baden-Württemberg, and 280 jobs will be lost. On June 1, 2012, the company filed for insolvency. The decision is due to the decreasing demand for its services.
Drescher's other sites in Offenburg (Baden-Württemberg), Poland and Czech Republic will be strengthened in the framework of the general policy of the Drescher's mother-company Epper-Drescher group. Its aim is to reduce competitive disadvantages by relocating production to the Central/Eastern Europe - just as did other companies operating in the business.
