Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As reported on 6 June 2012, German cable network operator Unitymedia will cut 232 jobs. This is due to a merger with Kabel BW. Job cuts will occur at the former Kabel BW headquarters in Heidelberg as well as in Kerpen and Bochum. A site in Marburg, currently employing 100 people, will be closed.
When the Federal Cartel Office agreed to the merger in December 2011, Unitymedia took over Kabel BW and its employees. In total, the company now employs 2,500 people.
