Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Construction company Balfour Beatty has announced that it is to restructure and cut 650 jobs. The company has said that it is hoping to make savings of up to £50m per year in back office costs. Whilst the company anticipated that two thirds of its workforce would remain unaffected it has notified all 12,000 staff that their roles may be redundant.
