Description
On the 19 April, Dutch Radio Wereldomroep announced that it will cut 270 out of 350 jobs. The joblosses are due to drastic budget cuts announced by the Cabinet, with funding going down from 46 to 14 million euro. The unions have agreed a social plan.
Traditionally, Wereldomroep has been broadcasting radio programs to Dutch residents abroad. From the first of January 2013 onwards, services will be cut back substantially and be limited to a specified set of countries only.
