Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 10 May 2012, the media company Groupe Hersant Media has announced a plan envisaging the cut of 270 jobs in 2012, as a result of the sale of its "Champagne Ardenne Picardie (CAP)" division to the Belgian media group Rossel.
The CAP division edits three regional newspapers (L'Union-l'Ardennais, L'Est Eclair, Libération Champagne) and a weekly magazine (L'Aisne nouvelle). It currently employs a workforce of 650 people, 270 of whom are to be dismissed.
According to the unions, following a meeting held in the Ministry of Labour, the company is to finalize the social plan for the restructuring by mid June.
