European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Iveco Magirus Camiva, a manufacturer of emergency vehicles, has announced the transfer of its production from a plant in Saint-Alban-Leysse (Savoie) to a site in Ulm, Germany, which will result in the collective dismissals of 129 out of 171 people employed in the French site.
The decision is based on economic grounds: decreased turnover and financial losses generated by the site. It is also related to the company's European restructuring plan, which affects also its sites in Austria (Graz) and Germany (Weisweil, Gorlitz).
The management plans to propose outplacement offers to the dismissed employees, mostly in the region of Rhône-Alpes, but also abroad: in Germany (Ulm) or Italy (Brescia). Iveco will also keep 42 employees for a future "excellence centre" near Lyon.
The timeline for the restructuring is yet to be announced.
