Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 6 April, the Commercial Court of Montpellier decided the liquidation of Belmonte (180 employees), a French company specialized in road cleaning and planning. The liquidation was due to the rising debt of the company. All the employees were dismissed within a period of 15 days after the court decision.
It is reported that a competitor operating in the north of France, JV Group (145 employees), plans to partially take over Belmonte and its 66 employees.
