Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The agreement between the Swedish building and construction company Peab and the mining industry Northland is to result in the creation of 320 new jobs for Peab in Luleå. The new recruits will consist of 300 truckdrivers and 20 white-collar employees.
The agreement includes transportation and construction of a terminal. Peab will be responsible for transportation between the ore mine and the transshipment terminal and the trucks will continue to drive throughout the year, around the clock, seven days a week. The transportation will continue to expand until they reach full production in 2015. The agreement will last until 2021 when they expect to have developed transport by train in the region.
Peab is a company specialised in the construction and maintenance of buildings and roads and operates gravel pits and rock quarries.
