Description
Asko Kodinkone, a manufacturer of domestic appliances, is closing its factory and logistics centre in Lahti and laying off all 106 employees. Parent company Gorenje is moving production to the Czech Republic.
Gorenje acquired the cooker-producing factory only in 2010, but the factory itself has a long history. The company has ended mandatory negotiations with employee representatives and cites competitiveness as the reason for moving production from Finland by September 2012.
A union representative expressed disappointment with the negotiations and savings goals put forward by the company.
