Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French construction group Eiffage Infraestructuras has applied for a redundancy procedure affecting 191 employees (36% of its workforce). The workers will receive a compensation for dismissal of 20 days per year worked. The rest of the workers will be subjected to a temporary dismissal of 180 days. With this measure the group aims to reduce structural expenditure in order to compensate for the losses recorded last year. The employee's representatives have called for strikes on 25-26 April and 3-4 May.
