Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Belgian industrial printing company Hélio Charleroi, which is part of the Dutch Circle Printers group, informed their Works Council of their intention to reduce its workforce by 111 (of which 90 blue collar workers and 21 white collar workers).
The management attributes the job cuts to overcapacity and industry's price war in Europe following the decline of demand of printed products. The 'Renault' procedure has been launched to define the conditions of the internal restructuring. The company employs some 262 people at the Heppignies site.
