Description
Aircraft manufacturer Airbus is to create about 400 new jobs in 2012 in Spain. The Airbus sites most concerned by this job creation are in Seville and Cadiz. This is part of a large scale recruitment drive which will lead to the creation of 4,000 new jobs globally (see here). As of February 2012, there is no information on when the new jobs will be created in Spain.
The move is motivated by the need to increase production capacity and ensure timely delivery of orders. Airbus is forecasting that air traffic in Spain will double by 2030 and 400 new passenger aircrafts will be sold to various companies.
Airbus has production sites in El Puerto de Santa Maria, Puerto Real and Tablada (Seville), where various parts are made for Airbus' planes. At the end of 2011, Airbus had a total workforce of 7,500 employees. About 1,000 Spanish companies are directly or indirectly Airbus suppliers.
