Description
Aircraft parts manufacturer Thales Avionics plans to create over 200 new jobs in 2012. The company already recruited 220 staff in 2011. Thales Avionics produces onboard computers for the Airbus A330.
In spite of reassurance from the company, staff is concerned about possible job cuts as part of ongoing plans to relocate part of the production from Meudon and Haillan (Gironde) to Singapore. The company has indicated that the relocation of production will not involve job cuts. Nonetheless strike action took place on 18 January 2012 at the Meudon site outside Paris to protest against the decision to relocate some of the production to Asia.
