Description

London Underground, an electric passenger railway in the UK, has announced plans to create 300 new jobs. The new roles will involve station assistants. Recruitment has already begun.

This job creation follows the continuous implementation of redundancies since 2009 in a bid to save money (see FS 12642, FS 15227 and FS 16116).

According to the trade unions, the job expansion move is blamed on the expected increase in demand due to the Olympic Games 2012 in London. However, the company said that the new jobs were a result of promotions and staff changing jobs within the industry.
