Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 16 January 2012, the German manufacturer of woodworking machinery Homag announced to close three sites with a maximum loss of 180 jobs. The company is restructuring its business and the sites affected by closure were not profitable in recent years.
Apart from closing down the mentioned sites, Homag also plans to restructure the rest of its German business. A timeline of the restructuring was not mentioned by the reporting business daily Handelsblatt.
