Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The airline Air Europe will cut 129 jobs in Spain. The labour authority has accepted the labour force adjustment plan which had been presented by the airline. The measure is blamed on economic reasons and it will affect 129 employees: 70 land staff, 45 pilots and 14 maintenance workers. The termination of the contracts is reported to be implemented until the end of May 2012.
During the negotiation process, 32 strikes were called by the pilots. As a consequence of these industrial action around 800 flights were cancelled. Nevertheless, strikes did not change the outcome of the redundancy procedure.
