Description
Swedish truck manufacturer Scania has announced the non-renewal of 1,000 fixed-term temporary employees. These jobs will be lost in Sweden (100 jobs, see here), other European countries (200) and South America (700).
As reasons for the job cuts, the company gives the reduction of production rates of its European and Latin American plants by 15 percent. With the lower production rate, Scania responds to a continued slowing demand for its products.
Earlier in 2011, Scania hadn't renewed another 900 of its European fixed-term temporary employees.
