Description
IT services firm CSC has announced that it is to cut up to 500 jobs. It is reported that some staff might be redeployed or offered voluntary redundancy packages. Jobs will be cut from healthcare related positions related to a contract with the NHS. The move follows the cancellation of the NHS National Programme for IT, which CSC was working within.
CSC has to make face to criticisms by high profile reviews, which claim that CSC's work was of very low quality and the government should reconsider working together with the company.
A timeline for the redundancies has yet to be announced.
UPDATE, 23/4/12: CSC announced an additional 640 job cuts in its UK units. Some of the firm's IT services will be transferred to company units in the Czech Republic and India.
