Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Durobor, a Belgian glass maker located in Soignies, will reduce its workforce by 171 in the frame of a merger/ acquisition. 108 jobs will go by means of early retirement, whereas 63 jobs will be direct dismissals. The company was taken over by the Belgian-Dutch consortium H2/TVH and Sobodec Holding and negotiations on how many jobs will be retained are now finished.
At the same time the consortium and the Walloon Region will invest EUR 35 Millions over the next two years for the construction of two new furnaces.
