Description
On 18 January 2012, property developer Bouwfonds Ontwikkeling announced that it will cut 100 jobs. This represents 25% of its total workforce. The company's employees have been informed about the redundancies, but a timeline is not yet known.
The redundancies is blamed on the severe crisis in the construction sector since mid-2008. In 2007, the firm sold 8000 houses. This number has fallen to just 4000 in 2011.
Bouwfonds Ontwikkeling already dismissed 100 people in May 2009 and has seen a hiring freeze for the last three years.
