Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Denmark-based multinational wind turbine producer Vestas has announced that it will dismiss 2,335 employees globally of which 1300 in Denmark. The Danish redundancies will affect 550 hourly paid workers in production and 750 salaried employees in administration. The production of wind turbines in Varde is to close and administration in Århus, Hammel, Lem and Ringkøbing is being downsized. Vestas will continue to employ 20,400 employees globally and 5,300 in Denmark.
As reported, Denmark has applied for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
