Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

As part of the Strategic Plan for Transport, Metropolitano de Lisboa (Lisbon underground), will dismiss 364 of its 1664 employees. This number accounts for 22% of its workforce.
The dismissals are reported to take place during 2012. Metropolitano de Lisboa is also encouraging older workers to retire.
These redundancies are part of a larger restructuring process in Lisbon's transport sector. Other companies have announced redundancies adding up to about 2000 job cuts: Carris announced 635 redundancies (see here); CP - Combois de Portugal announced 725 job cuts (see here) and EMEF - Empresa de Manutenção de Equipamento Ferroviário announced 400 dimissals (see here).
