Description

By the end of 2011 the Local Self-Government (Gmina) of Ruda Śląska is to dismiss 120 officials due to financial difficulties. 88 of the 120 employees will be covered by the collective dismissal programme.

The dismissals will affect mainly employees with the lowest level of work experience. Grażyna Dzidziec, the president of Ruda Śląska city, revealed that Gmina has serious financial problems driven by debts which could result in the bankruptcy of the Gmina. The Local Self-Government expects that by reducing its workforce it will safe 2.6 mln PLN in 2011 and 5 mln PLN in 2012.

Initially Gmina planned to dismiss 30 cleaners as well, but it turned out that outsourced cleaning services would be much more expensive.

It is worth noticing that many Gminas in Poland have currently similar problems and they are implementing dismissal programmes in their respective units.
