Description
Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL), an Italian banking firm, is to cut 1,000 jobs by the end of 2014. The new reorganisation plan also inhibits the opening of 40 of 50 new branches previously announced. According to the bank, the curb of costs is mainly due to the recent worsening of the global financial and economic situation.
In the next months, negotiations with trade unions will start with the aim to find adequate measures to reduce the negative social effects caused by the new reorganisation plan.
In Italy, BNL has around 14,000 employees.
