Description

Deutsche Post subsidiary First Mail, a regional budget mailing company, will be closed down and 490 fixed-term employments will be lost. The remaining 910 trainees and 180 permanent employees will be reemployed by the mother company Deutsche Post.

The closure of First Mail results from a court judgment concerning the dumping of prices against First Mail. Since the Supreme Administrative Court of the North Rhine-Westphalia region ruled that First Mail had to raise prices, the decision was made to close down the entire operation.

The company employs 1,600 people.
