Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
60 of 443 employees at the company Kumatsu Forest, a manufacturer of forestry machinery, in Umeå, Sweden, have been issued with redundancy notices. In addition, 39 employees with fixed-term contracts will not have their contacts renewed as of January 2012. The internal restructuring process is due to anticipated weak demand in the market for forest machinery.
