On 10 November 2011 Nokia Siemens Networks signed a job creation agreement with Hungary's government committing to the creation of 224 jobs. The new jobs created at Nokia's research centre will be filled with participants of Nokia Siemens Networks' scholarship program. About 50 students participate in different research projects each semester under the programme which involves 13 universities.
The research base has been an investment of HUF 2,7 billion (EUR 8,8 million) and the job creation was supported by the HUF 270 million (EUR 87000) state grant.
Nokia Siemens Networks established its R&D centre in Budapest in 1998.
