Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 20 May 2011, call centre operator Arvato announced to open a new site near Angoulême and create 400 jobs in the next two years. The first 130 employees will start to work from early November, but the management warned the public authorities that they will create only half of the total jobs initially announced if they encourage a competitor (Laser Contact) to open a call centre in the same area. Arvato explained that there is no possibility to find 800 peoples for the two call centre in the area of Angoulême.
